Train Collides With Tanker at User Operated Crossing
Rail Professional reports that the collision ocurred at a user operated crossing near Bures in Suffolk at 17.37 on 17 August 2010. Vehicle drivers are required to telephone the signaller before crossing user operated crossings. Network Rail reported to the BBC that the driver had not made a call before driving his sewage tanker onto the crossing.
Most of the twenty passengers on board were injured as was the driver. One passenger was critically injured. Replacement buses were called in to replace services whilst an investigation was carried out by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch.
